Richard L. Julyan, MD

If Dr. Julyan asks a lot of questions that seem unrelated to your specific health concern, he says, “It’s just because I want to get to know you better.” That interaction is what he enjoys most about being a family physician, and it helps foster a strong doctor-patient partnership where decision-making is shared.

Within that partnership, says Dr. Julyan, “I work with patients to focus on prevention and healthy habits that can maximize their health, independence and well-being.” Sometimes further testing or medications are needed, but often they’re not. “Much of what patients can do to improve their health comes down to lifestyle habits and making changes,” he says. “Striving for a solid health foundation should always be a goal.”

A graduate of the University of Washington, Dr. Julyan earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his internship and residency at North Colorado Family Medicine. He is board-certified in family medicine and has specialized training in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance-use disorders.

In his free time, Dr. Julyan says, “I love outdoor activities and tinkering with projects at home.” He also plays guitar and brews his own beer and cider.
