About Vijay K. Prabhakar
Dr. Vijay Prabhakar is a gastroenterologist who recently completed his gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of Southern California in 2023. Prior to this, he completed medical school at Duke University before completing his residency in internal medicine at Stanford University.
During his gastroenterology fellowship training at USC, Dr. Prabhakar gained outstanding experience caring for inpatients and outpatients with conditions such as acute gastrointestinal tract bleeding, chronic anemia, biliary tract disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and liver diseases such as viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis and cirrhosis. He hopes to continue to grow and evolve his clinical practice to serve patients with such conditions.
Dr. Prabhakar’s philosophy of care is to be an active listener and clear communicator in order to tailor individualized care to every patient. He aims to keep patients fully informed and educated about their health so they are better equipped to achieve their health goals.
Originally from the Bay Area, he is an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants. He likes to stay active and looks forward to exploring the trails and outdoors in the area. He also enjoys watching history documentaries and listening to history podcasts.
