Sharon A. Fleck, LPC

I began my career in mental health in 1996, providing direct care to individuals receiving support from community mental health programs. I spent time in these programs providing care and support in the community, doing case management and providing group and individual therapy. My time in community mental health impressed on me the enormous impact trauma has on every aspect of a person’s life. It was during this time that I became aware of EMDR and saw this as a therapeutic tool that could bring hope and an improved level of healing for so many people. I have been practicing EMDR since 2003, which has led me to specialize in treating complex trauma. I am currently a certified EMDR therapist and enjoy continuous learning about EMDR as well as other therapies. I have also been fortunate to work with Providence Breakthrough, helping individuals recover from addictive disease. This experience enhances my ability to be effective in all of my work as addictive disease and trauma are often so closely linked. I spent five years in private practice until finding my way to Providence Medical Group Behavioral Health, where I am able to treat a wider range of clients. I am also happy to be able to stay involved with the Providence Breatkthrough program and also provide support to our Providence Valdez Counseling Center through telehealth. I am often inspired by the strength and determination I find in people who take the courageous step to begin the process of healing. My goal is to be a safe and grounding guide through this process.
