About Leo R. Leer
Dr. Leer received his undergraduate degree in Zoology at UC Berkeley and attended Medical school at the University of Southern California. He then completed residency in Family Medicine at the San Pedro Hospital/Harbor UCLA medical Center. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics.
Dr. Leer and his family moved to Humboldt County in 1992. He worked at Eureka Family Practice from 1994 until joining St.Joseph Health Providers in 2017. He was Chief of Staff at St. Joseph Hospital in 2004 and 2005.
Dr. Leer’s wife, Nancy, taught in the psychology department at Humboldt State University until her retirement a few years ago. In her spare time she lovingly tends to her beautiful garden. Their daughter, Jane, grew up and left home much more quickly than her parents were prepared to accept!
When not working Dr. Leer can either be found bicycling, fly fishing, skiing, or eating.
