Herbert H. Lim, MD

Dr. Herbert Lim enjoys family medicine because of the variety; every patient presents a unique perspective and challenge. He also enjoys getting to know his patients and believes it's important to establish trusting relationships. "We need to be honest with each other to come up with the best care plan possible," he says.

In his practice, Dr. Lim emphasizes prevention and feels this is key to many medical issues. "Some medical events are unavoidable, but practicing the principles of prevention also leads to more optimal recovery once events occur," he says. His philosophy of care is to not treat the diagnosis but to treat the patient. In doing so, he attempts to address the whole-person needs.

For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Lim earned his degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He then returned to California, where he earned his medical degree and completed his internship and residency at Loma Linda University.

Dr. Lim spent most of his early childhood in Southern California before moving to Maryland with his family. His two young sons keep him and his wife busy with their various activities and interests. In his free time Dr. Lim also enjoys snow skiing and crossfit and is an avid sports fan.
