About Anne N. Skinner
Dr. Skinner grew up in Federal Way, Washington near Seattle. She attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, where she majored in Zoology/Pre-med. She also minored in Southeast Asian Studies, and studied abroad in Thailand. In 2003 she received her medical degree from Des Moines University-Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. While in medical school, Dr. Skinner also began working towards a Master’s degree in Public Health, which she received in 2006. Dr. Skinner was glad to return to the Northwest for her family medicine residency at Family Medicine of Southwest Washington in Vancouver, Washington. Following that, she practiced family medicine for almost four years in Vancouver. In September of 2010 she joined the team at Family Medical Group Northeast.
Dr. Skinner’s approach emphasizes preventive healthcare and working to create a healthy lifestyle focusing on the individual needs of each of her patients, along with applying the most up to date, evidence based treatments for patients. She is trained in Osteopathic manipulation, and is able to do some adjustments for her patients. She promotes preventive screenings, along with maintaining a balanced diet and active lifestyle, and encourages her patients to take an active role in their own health and wellbeing. Dr. Skinner enjoys seeing whole families in her practice, and welcomes new patients of all ages. She is also interested in community health, and looking at how the health of individuals is affected by environmental and social factors in the wider community.
