About Andrew C. Ko

Dr. Andrew C. Ko received a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Chemistry and Biological Science from the University of California, Irvine. Shortly after, Dr. Ko received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. Returning to California, he continued his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Wadsworth V.A. at U.C.L.A. and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center.

Dr. Ko is extremely knowledgeable and has received many accolades in his field. In 1983, he received the Melvyn Lechtling Oncology Research Award. In 2006, Dr. Ko took part in an Advanced Certificate Program in the Management of Chronic Hepatitis B, receiving honors in excellence and distinction of project knowledge. In 2007, he was also named Physician of the Year by Monarch Healthcare. Dr. Ko was inducted to AGA Fellow in May 2007. The Fellowship in the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF) is an honor bestowed by the AGA for superior professional achievement in practice and/or research in the field of gastroenterology.

Dr. Ko served as the president of the Orange County GI Society in 1998 and was Gastroenterology Division Chief of Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center in 2014. He was involved in teaching and training gastroenterology fellows at UC Irvine and was Assistant Clinical Professor at UCI Medical Center from 1991 to 2013. He became a co-founder of the Pacific Endoscopy and Surgery Center in 2007 and remains a governance and managing board member of the center. Dr. Ko has been practicing medicine as a gastroenterologist in Orange County since 1991. Dr. Ko is fluent in both English and Korean.

Aside from pursuing his passion to heal and help others, Dr. Ko enjoys Fine Art Photography. He has been recognized and awarded by a number of national and international photography organizations. His art has been exhibited at various fine art photography exhibitions. He has been an active exhibitor at the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach since 2016.
