Maxine Bauer, MD

It is my goal and privilege to get to know each of my patients beyond their medical concerns. For me, this part is critical to creating an individualized treatment plan. I love that my job permits me to participate in some of the most important events in a woman's life. As much as I love celebrating these wonderful moments, I believe my most important role is to support my patients during their more difficult times.

I have a special interest in helping patients manage obstetric or gynecologic issues that are emotionally challenging including infertility, miscarriage, management of abnormal pap smears, and weight concerns. Outside of work, my family is most important to me.

I am happily married to a supportive spouse with two children. Our family is very active, and we enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, camping and traveling together. I also love playing soccer, tennis and running. Most of all, I love running to deliveries! I completed medical school at Emory University in my home town of Atlanta, GA. I completed my residency training at Oregon Health & Science University in 1999. I was in private practice in Portland for 14 years before joining the Providence team. In 2007, I was recognized by Portland Monthly as one of Portland's top doctors.
