About Bret T. Kean
Dr. Kean is committed to excellence in care of shoulder and knee problems. He is fellowship-trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy and is able to offer cutting edge surgical and non-surgical techniques and treatment models for shoulder and knee injuries/disease. Compassionate and competent care of patients is the core of his mission.
Dr. Kean started his training in Pennsylvania, first earning his B.S. in molecular biology at Haverford College and then his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College. He then headed westward, completing his residency at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University in Ohio with further specialty training through a fellowship in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic Surgery at the University of Utah. While a visiting instructor at the University of Utah, he helped cover the university collegiate athletes, including, women's soccer, men's football and ski team events. On a professional level, Dr. Kean is accomplished in reverse and conventional total shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, arthroscopic anatomic ACL reconstructions, operative/non-operative care of the athlete, and fracture care. Dr. Kean is Chief of Surgery at Providence Milwaukie Hospital and on Active attending staff at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center. He is a member of the Providence Sports Medicine Advisory Counsel and is a physician consultant for area High School Athletics. In his free time, Dr. Kean's interests include spending time with his family, biking, swimming, running, and skiing.
