Raymond S. Lance, MD

Dr. Lance is a fellowship trained urologic oncologist who is passionate about taking care of people and helping them improve their health through personalized medicine and application of the scientific process. Dr. Lance completed his undergraduate education at the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and attained his medical degree in 1991 at the only US military medical school, The Edward Hebert School of medicine. He then completed his Internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and later completed his urology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. He then obtained his fellowship at the famed University of Texas, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. Following his U.S. Army service obligation where he achieved the active duty rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he went on to join the Eastern Virginia Medical School/Urology of Virginia. There he accomplished the academic rank of Full Professor of Surgery / Urology. Dr. Lance has also published over 70 peer reviewed journal publications and is the proud author of several textbook chapters. Throughout his training and years afterward, Dr. Lance has embraced research in the realm of molecular biology biomarkers and treatment of urologic cancers and takes great pride in sharing and teaching other physicians in his fight against cancer. For Dr. Lance ‘Research is vital to his world view, because it represents a mind-set and belief that we can and MUST do better for people with urologic cancers.’ As the son of a cancer victim, Dr. Lance is committed to treating each cancer patient with a personalized and compassionate approach whether in the office or in surgery it is the core of his beliefs. Dr. Lance is married to Cari Smith Lance, a native of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho who is his college sweetheart from University of Idaho. They have four adopted children, 6 horses, a few dogs and a bunch of chickens nestled in the outskirts of Spokane, WA. He is a dedicated Christian and believes that spirituality is vital to our lives and particularly when facing cancer.
