When it comes to the latest in heart and stroke care, Providence Medford takes the gold.

The American Heart Association honored Providence Medford with its Mission Lifeline Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award for continued success in applying evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve the quality of care and outcomes for heart attack patients. This follows Providence Medford’s American Stroke Association 2018 Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement and Target Stroke Elite Plus Awards for ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment that meets national evidence-based standards and recommendations.

“We are truly dedicated to providing consistent, excellent care for our patients,” said Stephen Badke, D.O., emergency medicine medical director.

Dr. Badke is part of a leading team of Providence physicians providing excellence in heart and stroke care.

Providence Medford is accredited by the American College of Cardiology. “ACC accreditation and gold level awards demonstrate that we are delivering high quality cardiovascular care as measured against a demanding national standard,” said Dr. Paul Gilmore, Providence cardiologist.

About Mission: Lifeline – STEMI (Heart Attack) Award

Every year, more than 250,000 people experience an ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the deadliest type of heart attack, caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart that requires timely treatment. To prevent death, it’s critical to restore blood flow as quickly as possible, by mechanically opening the blocked vessel. Learn more at www.heart.org.

Providence Medford earned the award by meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for quick and appropriate treatment through emergency procedures to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries in heart attack patients.

About Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Award

Nearly 800,000 people in the US have a stroke every year. Ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke and happens when a clot blocks a vessel supplying blood to the brain. Providence-Medford provides treatment for ischemic stroke during the critical early hours with clot busting medication treatment (Alteplase) or physical removal of the clot (mechanical thrombectomy). Early recognition of stroke symptoms and treatment is essential for good results. Learn more at www.strokeassociation.org.

Get With The Guidelines-Stroke is an in-hospital program for improving stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines. The care our patients receive is our number one priority. That’s why we’re proud to be among the hospitals recognized by the American Stroke Association for providing outstanding stroke care.

Join us in congratulating our health care teams for turning treatment guidelines into lifeline!
