Providence response to the Change Healthcare cyberattack

Update as of April 22, 2024:

Providence has resumed normal operations following a nationwide pharmacy service disruption caused by a cyberattack on Change Healthcare – a technology company that processes most prescriptions in the U.S. Following established workflows, Providence providers are electronically prescribing medications through EPIC, the organization’s electronical health record (EHR) system, and are no longer writing paper scripts.

While dispensing and retail pharmacies who rely on Change Healthcare for claims processing have largely returned to normal operations, some insurance billing interfaces remain impaired. Providence pharmacies are continuing to utilize downtime procedures to provide safe and timely access to medications for those affected patients. Providence’s Credena Health pharmacies, and other retail pharmacies within the Providence family of organizations, remain steadfast in our Mission to serve all and to ensure our patients receive the care they need. Patients will continue to receive their medications and we are making every effort to minimize delays.
