Michael E. Layoun, MD

Taking his biochemistry research experience and relating that knowledge into advancing patient care, Michael Layoun, M.D., discovered a passion for the field of cardiology. Dr. Layoun’s personal perception of modern-day medicine aligns with the field of cardiology’s “multidisciplinary approach to advancing excellent health through nutrition, exercise and medical management” and serves as a guide for his patient care practice.

Dr. Layoun earned his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and biophysics at Oregon State University and completed his medical training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). After a three-year residency at University of California, Los Angeles, he returned to Portland to complete his cardiovascular medicine fellowship at OHSU, where he also served as chief fellow during his final year of training. Dr. Layoun also holds specialized training in vascular medicine, nuclear cardiology and cardiac computed tomography.

A Portland native, Dr. Layoun was actually born at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. When not practicing medicine, he enjoys running, hiking, spending time with his family, coffee roasting and woodworking.
