About Alisa R. Awtry
Before becoming a physician, Dr. Awtry was a teacher – and once an educator, always an educator. “My job as a physician is to help my patients understand their health, their preventive and treatment options, and the active role they can play in their well-being,” she says. In her practice, she emphasizes whole-person health, preventive care and evidence-based medicine. Some specific areas of interest include pediatrics, women’s health, HIV medicine and obesity.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Awtry enjoys learning from her patients. “I love getting to know patients in the wider context of a family. You learn so much about how to care for someone when you also know and care for their grandkids, siblings and neighbors,” she says. “Family medicine allows me to care for people at every stage of life, from helping parents bring home their newborns, to helping children care for their aging parents, and all that happens in between.”
A graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Awtry attended the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency training in the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency. She is board certified in family medicine and has additional specialty certification in HIV medicine. At home, she enjoys biking and hiking with her husband and kids, and cooking with colorful produce.

Even though Dr. A. Autry is listed as my primary care provider, she is rarely available unless I am willing to wait several months. I mostly see the PA when I have problems or my asthma is out of control. The most I ever get is a referral to someone else, who can't see me for another several months. Best care was at the Oregon Clinic. They f/u, and make sure you get the treatment I need.

Providence Patient
Would like for my provider spend more time and ask more questions about my health.
Providence Patient
Dr Autry was very comfortable to speak with, and was open to my comments about my health and my experience. She asked appropriate questions and responded well to my comments. She was not dismissive or opinionated, but provided me appropriate information that I could use to better my health. It seems that she has enough experience in life to have a nice balance in her approach.
