About Prabhat K. Bhama
Dr. Bhama is a fellowship-trained double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face and neck. He has a particular interest in facial reanimation surgery to help patients with facial paralysis, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) surgery to help patients with nasal obstruction or nasal deformities, and management of skin cancers. He also performs browlift, blepharoplasty, and manages complex skin reconstructions after Mohs surgery.
Dr. Bhama grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area, and attended medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School as a member of the Inteflex integrated pre-medical/medical program. He graduated with honors, and then completed a 6 year residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. After residency, he completed a two year fellowship in advanced facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. During that time, he also obtained a master in public health from Harvard School of Public Health.
He works in the division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, and is Clinical Instructor in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington. He is the lead physician of the Center for Facial Paralysis at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. He has authored 40 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He has been an invited speaker both nationally and internationally at numerous scientific and surgical meetings. Dr. Bhama remains on staff in Alaska, where he performs facial reconstructive surgery every year. He also travels to Guatemala annually to perform pro-bono surgery on children who were born without ears. Dr. Bhama also helps train the next generation of facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons. He is one of the few teaching surgical faculty for the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health ACPSE accredited fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Prabhat lives in the Puget Sound Region with his wife (who grew up in Yakima, Washington), his two daughters, and two dogs. He enjoys road cycling, hiking, and playing the saxophone. Dr. Bhama is also a photographer and lectures and publishes on medical photography.
