Nursing Student Placement
All nursing students must work through your school’s nursing Instructor regarding clinical placement or observation at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. As part of your placement process you will be required to submit documentation. Any incomplete paperwork will not be accepted.
For students looking to do research or capstone projects, follow the steps listed in the "Research & Capstone Projects" tab below, once your nursing instructor has approved your request.

Online education is to be completed prior to your orientation date. This will take several hours to complete and works best when using Internet Explorer on a PC.

- Parking Permit (if you plan to park on Kadlec's campus): You may park in the parking garage on the day of Orientation but are expected to follow the employee parking policy for the duration of your clinical experience.

- Follow these instructions to claim the account. If you have any trouble claiming your account call IS Service Desk at 844-922-7548. Claim your account no more than 10 days prior to your start date.
- Complete required courses for Non-Employed Workforce Members (State-Side). Complete the attestation and print the completion certificate.

- In the event of an injury or exposure, check in through the Emergency Department and complete a Non-Employee EIR
- Electronic Device Use: You may not use personal cell phones in patient care areas. You may only use personal cell phones in private, designated areas of the hospital. Please ask your instructor or a Kadlec unit RN where those areas are. Absolutely no photos can be taken in patient care areas of any Kadlec campus.
- Operating Room/PACU Placements: Only review these policies if your placement will have you in the Kadlec Operating Room or PACU.
In-person orientation takes place at 888 Swift Blvd. Richland, WA and will be arranged between your school’s nursing instructor and Kadlec.

- Send the following forms to Academic Services:
- Check your badge, network, EPIC and Pyxis access.
- Your Instructor will arrange a time for this and will notify the appropriate personnel if there are any issues with access, or you need a new badge.
- Complete and return an updated Clinical Passport.
- Submit project packet to Kadlec Academic Services
- Kadlec Academic Services will process your Facility Approval Form then submit necessary documents on your behalf to the Providence IRB.
- Once a determination has been made, you may start your project, or continue to follow the steps provided by the Providence IRB.

- Attend Nursing Student Orientation at Kadlec
To be completed once per academic year:
- Complete annual HealthStream (HLC) assignments
- Complete Kadlec Passport
- WSP and Criminal Disclosure Statement (Print single sided)
- Students or instructors new to Kadlec: Complete the shaded areas on the New Access Request form and email to the Student Services Specialist three weeks prior to orientation or first clinical date. Please include all students and instructors.
- Returning students or instructors: Complete the shaded areas on the Continuing Access Request form.
- All: Submit Clinical Passport for all students and instructors to the Student Services Specialist one week prior to Orientation or first clinical date.
- Instructor: Introduce self to unit manager / clinical educator
- Instructor or Preceptor: Have nursing students register their fingerprint for Medication Dispensing System on unit
- Instructor or Preceptor: Have returning nursing students check logins to network, EPIC, and Pyxis, and check badge access. Contact the Student Services Specialist for student login/access issues.
- Instructor or Preceptor: Review Code Cart; Identify location of Code Cart and emergency equipment
- Instructor or Preceptor: Review First Responder role with nursing students; How to initiate a Code (dial 4444 or push emergency button)
